AND NOW FOR SOMETHING RIDICULOUSLY ADORABLE

Our friends Grace and Brian recently adopted a puppy. Not just any puppy, a goldendoodle puppy! And not just any goldendoodle---ok I have to stop I'm annoying myself. Anyway. They adopted Samson from Cowboy Country Doodles, the same place we got Gilligan 7 months ago. Actually, Samson and Gilly have the same pop, so they are half brothers! Samson is soooo floppy and sweet and practically edible. I think less is more here in the words dept. On to the pictures.

Samson and Gilligan get along so well! Jared is ona campaign for another puppy, but I am staunchly against it. For those of you out there who have two dogs, what do you say?

WILD ANIMALS

This week has been an eventful one in the Alexander home. Some of you already know that Sunday night brought the death of our tender little annoying mouse friend Puff. If you haven't yet, see the videos for more info.

Next up was Jared texting me this picture with no comment.

My lipstick had rolled underneath that piano that morning and the joker here decided he wanted to be just like Mama...

All of this rattling in the animal world has boiled down to one simple fact: Jared leaves on Saturday for a month.

Is it possible our animal friends are sensing this great change in the force and freaking the freak out because of it?

Probably not! But who knows.

Other then that, Jared and I have recently begun a little young married and mormon game night. Let me know if you would like to join in. Just be ready to be crushed at Cranium or whatever. You've been warned.

Why So Serious?

Want to have a good laugh? Draw eyebrows on the dog.

 These two love each other.

Gilly needs a haircut and it's almost Christmas!

WE'LL ALL BE LABRADOODLES!

Another one bites the dust! Last Tuesday we picked up the newest member of Team Alexander. Meet Gilligan Theodore the Labradoodle! We got Gilligan from Cowboy Country Doodles, a breeder here in my hometown. . The ladies who run it are beyond amazing and take great care of their animals. We kept his home coming a surprise so that we could enjoy it and not have to listen to any naysayers. Ol' Gillyweed has already brought so much joy to our household! He is a Medium F1B doodle who enjoys straws, carpet fringe and dive bombing sleeping people's faces.

Gilligan we love you!

If you give a Kip a mouse...

Growing up there was a revolving cast of animals that lived in my house. We always had a dog, or a rodent, or someone else's dog or rodent. The full list includes foster hamsters and guinea pigs, an insane and devious pair of gerbils, 5 or 6 different dogs...there were a few stray cats, fish, etc. Basically anything we could drag home, we could almost always keep.

Occasional we got our hands on something more exotic. When I was 17, we took charge of two orphaned raccoon kits, Meeko and Wednesday. We taught them to fish for minnows in our bath tub. When we walked into the mudroom to their kennel, they'd start purring and chirping with excitement, reaching their little paws out toward you, longing to be held. They were like kittens with hands, allowing them to be 120% more mischievous then any house cat. They greedily drank from bottles, and they absolutely despised our dog. Eventually they had to be handed over to a raccoon rehabilitation site, but that was a fun few months.

My favorite pet, by far, was our fantastic dog, Scout. He was a mutt from the pound, small and black; a half bred Labrador who once ate an entire jar of peanut butter.  Dogs are the supreme pet, aren't they? I have nothing against cats, but as I've never been allowed to have one because of allergies, it's always been dogs for me.

A close second in the ranks though was our rat, Sassy. You are probably squirming in your seat thinking of rat tails now, aren't you? It's always the tails people bring up. Maybe now I'd have a problem with them, but at the age of 10, I was smitten and fully in love with our little rat. Sassy was incredibly intelligent and sweet. Rats are very social and love people.

Ever since I moved away from my parents house, I've wanted a pet. This weekend, a tiny little idea started growing in my brain. By the end of Saturday, Jared and I were proud owner of Myrtle and Dolly. They are fascinating, quiet, and surprisingly dramatic. I'll have to fill you in with the whole sordid tale, tomorrow.

For now, you know what they say, If you give a Kip a mouse, she'll probably want a puppy.

Meow

Sunday morning we woke up for church and couldn't believe it was already 7:45. Outside the sky was dark, a light rain falling; weather basically begging you to hit the snooze button one or eight times.
We slugged along, hitting nasty weather on the drive out to Whitehouse and getting to church at 9 by the hair of our chinny chin chins. Pulling up I prepared myself for a mad dash to the door, but as I got out of the car I heard a little peep, and then 4 or 5 more. Looking over to the outdoor AC unit, I saw a little black kitten screaming her head off. As I walked up she jumped right to me, and then I noticed her two brothers. They were soaking wet and shivering and could not grab onto me fast enough. Jared and I took them into the kitchen and got them warm. After some hasty kitten baths and belly rubs, they promptly passed out in their kitty fort and slept through the next three hours of church.
One got a home right away, and we brought the others home for a bath and some kitten food. Jared has a serious crush on the little boy. He named him Samson, and I'm afraid we just may have to keep him. I have such terrible cat allergies, but I was already looking into allergy shots, so we'll see. For now, it's nice to have them around.
